Check the fit of the bulkhead. Increase the holes using a round needle file until it fits over the carbon rods. |
| 32.
Important - before you attach the bulkhead, sand the inside of the fuselage pod with 100-150 grit sandpaper.
Place the wing with the bulkhead into the wing saddle. Position the bulkhead vertically or nearly vertically. Apply a drop of medium CA. For best results do not kick the CA with accelerator, use rubber bands to hold the wing on the fuselage until the glue sets on its own. This will give the best glue joint strength without undesired brittlness. |
| 33.
Pull the carbon rods out and apply foam safe CA or epoxy, insert them back into the wing. |
| 34.
Apply CA on the back side of the bulkhead. Do not glue the top end of the bulkhead until the pushrods are installed. |
| 35.
Drill a 1/8" hole though the center of the hard point of the wing. |
| 36.
Place the wing into the saddle, make sure it is as nearly square to the fuselage as possible. If you want to be really anal about it, use rubber bands to hold the wing down and measure the distance from the wing tips to the tailboom end. Use a drill bit to mark the location of the hole in the tailboom. |
| 37.
Drill a 1/8" hole through the tailboom. Insert the round balsa plug into the boom until it is approximiately centered around the hole. |
| 38.
Pour thin CA into the hole to saturate the balsa plug and glue it to the tailboom. Do not overdo this, it is very easy to get CA running out of the rear or the front end of the tailboom. |
| 39.
Cut and sand the small oval plywood platform from the supplied piece of light plywood. Drill a 1/8" hole in the middle of it. Scrape the shiny layer off the tailboom aaround the hole. |
| 40.
Use medium CA to attach the oval platform to the tailboom. Make sure the holes are lined up. Do not kick the CA if you want maximum glue strength. |
| 41.
Prepare servo extension wires. Cut off the connectors. The servo lugs should have been cut off when you made the servo pockets in the wings. |
| 42.
Solder the extension wires to the servo wires. |
| 43.
Insert the extension wires through the servo channel. |
| 44.
Pull the wires out of the wire exit hole with needle nose pliers. |
| 45.
Prepare the connector. I usually solder the male part to the wing wires, the female part to the servo harness. |
